COVID-19 Immunization Competency Course

Purpose:   To learn or refresh knowledge regarding COVID-19 vaccines and practice considerations. While the complete BCCDC Immunization Competency Course is recommended for all new vaccine providers, this course has been adapted to be a COVID-19 specific course, based on the Immunization Competencies for BC Health Professionals (an adaptation of the Public Health Agency of Canada’s Immunization Competencies), for new immunizers who will be providing COVID-19 vaccines only.

For LPNs, the BCCDC COVID-19 Immunization Competency Course meets the BC College of Nurses and Midwives’ additional education requirement (condition) for LPNs to autonomously administer the COVID-19 vaccine.

Intended Audience: New immunizers involved in the COVID-19 Immunization Program or those who would like to refresh their knowledge for continuing education.

The BCCDC COVID-19 Immunization Competency Course consists of two components:
  1. The online COVID-19 Immunization Competency Course
  2. The COVID-19 Immunization Skills Checklist (an additional tool for the assessment of immunization competencies and is facilitated by the immunization employer).
