Sandrine Merette

Dr. Sandrine Mérette is a mass spectrometry scientist within the Provincial Toxicology Centre at BCCDC. She is also a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at UBC.

Research

Dr. Mérette's research focuses on the use of mass spectrometry and data mining in the identification of novel psychoactive substances (NPS) in postmortem and clinical toxicology, illicit drug supplies and wastewater. She is also interested in NPS metabolism.

Bio

Dr. Mérette obtained her B. Sc. in Applied Chemistry and her Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Hertfordshire, UK. She worked for the Thrombosis Research Institute, London UK as an organic chemist for several years before doing a post-doctoral fellowship at King's College, London UK in the field of mass spectrometry. She then moved to Vancouver, Canada to work in bioanalytical chemistry and forensic equine drug testing before joining the Provincial Toxicology Centre in 2019.
