Kimberly Thomson is an affiliate investigator with Population and Public Health at BCCDC and an assistant professor with the Children’s Health Policy Centre at the SFU Faculty of Health Sciences.
Dr. Thomson's research investigates the social context factors within children's early environments that are associated with their future mental health and well-being throughout the life course and into the next generation. She is particularly interested in research that informs policy, and works with community leaders, health partners, and policy-makers to generate evidence to promote optimal environments for children.
Dr. Thomson completed her PhD at the Human Early Learning Partnership (HELP) within the School of Population and Public Health at UBC, and postdoctoral training at HELP, the BC Centre for Advancing Health Outcomes, and the Centre for Social and Early Emotional Development (SEED) at Deakin University, Australia. She specializes in research and evaluation investigating social and structural determinants of health, life course epidemiology, and children's early social-emotional development.
