Dr. Inna Sekirov is a medical microbiologist in Public Health Laboratory at BCCDC and the program head for Tuberculosis/Mycobacteriology Laboratory. She is also a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at UBC.
Dr. Sekirov's interests include the public health-related aspects of medical microbiology, clinical applications of microbial genomics and tuberculosis (TB)/mycobacteriology diagnostic methods. Since the start of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, she has been involved in research into the humoral responses post-SARS-CoV-2 infection and vaccination, as well as the role of the ACE2 receptor in SARS-CoV-2 infection.
Dr. Sekirov obtained her BSc in microbiology and immunology, as well as her MD and PhD degrees, at UBC. She also completed her medical microbiology residency at UBC.
