Hong Yu is the research manager of the Brunham Vaccine Laboratory at BCCDC.
Dr. Yu’s current research focuses on chlamydia vaccine discovery by identifying T cell antigens. She is also exploring innovative adjuvants to develop a subunit vaccine against chlamydia infection.
Dr. Yu graduated with a PhD in immunology from Shanghai Medical University in China in 2001. She undertook post-doctoral training for five years at the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization (VIDO) at the University of Saskatchewan, where her research involved the development of methodologies for vaccination against hepatitis C using DNA/protein or dendritic cell-based vaccination regime.
Dr. Yu joined the Brunham Vaccine Laboratory in 2007 and was later promoted to research manager.
