This course is based on the BCCDC Immunization Communication Tool (ICT) 2021 and includes some updates. It consists of 5 modules and 13 lessons and will take between 1-1.5 hours to complete.
After taking this course, learners will:
- Understand what vaccine hesitancy is and be able to respond to a client's position along the continuum of vaccine acceptance.
- Understand the role that public health institutions have and continue to play in vaccine hesitancy.
- Understand immunization providers' responsibilities in providing culturally safe care.
- Learn evidence-based approaches to immunization communication.
- Understand how to use motivational interviewing techniques in immunization communication.
- Be able to apply the Canadian Pediatric Society's 4-step approach to immunization communication.
- Understand how to use the BCCDC ICT 2021 to answer commonly asked questions about immunizations.
