The Return to Campus Public Health Guidance for B.C.'s post-secondary institutions has been updated to support in-person learning during the winter semester.
The guidance can be found on the BCCDC webpage for Post-Secondary Institutions and will be incorporated into the Return-to-Campus Guidelines for post secondary. It builds on the foundations put in place for the fall semester and has been updated to align with recent changes to provincial guidance and management of COVID-19.
Information on the use of COVID-19 rapid testing at post-secondary institutions was also added to the webpage. The guidance provides information on the use of testing of symptomatic employees and students to support the continuity of on-campus learning, instruction and research.
Students, faculty and staff of post-secondary institutions are required to continue following any provincial restrictions and orders from the provincial health officer such as:
- Limitations on non-educational organized events and gatherings
- Limits on personal gatherings
- Use of masks in indoor public spaces
- Use of the BC Vaccine Card to access non-essential or discretionary businesses, services and events
Research shows that young people have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic. Public health measures are intended to balance pandemic control efforts and the impacts on society. Enabling young people to learn and grow in supportive environments is important to their overall wellbeing during this stage of life.
